About Peter Smith

Peter began his career in finance in 2005 in London, England. He gained valuable experience as a merger arbitrage trading desk analyst. Later, he advanced to Vice President and specialized in mergers and acquisitions within the asset management sector. In 2011, Peter returned to Canada to found Daneson.

Daneson is a toothpick company that was among Shopify’s first clients and spent several years in the top 1% of Shopify retailers globally. Today, Daneson’s customers include boutique hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and luxury retailers. Peter was at the forefront of leveraging technology to simplify business. As a beta client, Daneson’s feedback helped shape Google Work, Shopify, Grammarly, and others.

Peter is also a non-executive director of the Wild School Blue Mountains. He holds an MBA from the University College Dublin, an MSc. in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Economics from the University of Kings College.

He previously held the FCA-controlled functions of CF23 (Corporate Finance Adviser), CF21 (Investment Adviser), and CF30 (Customer).
